Why delayed registrations? Some families routinely did not register their children’s births. A late registration could indicate an impending marriage or move away from town or need to apply for identity papers. In the four cases below, the documents state “Late registration caused by the parents’ negligence” (which is a fairly common statement found in delayed birth registrations). Very rarely, a marriage appears as a delayed registration.
