Surnames with appended suffixes
A surname may appear with a suffix. Here are the most commonly used suffixes:
Suffix | Example | Meaning |
-owie | Altmanowie | family of |
-e (for names ending with icz) | Abramowicze | family of |
-scy (for names ending with ski and -cki) | Krakowscy | family of |
-owa | Altmanowa | wife of |
-ówna | Altmanówna | daughter of (i.e., not married) |
