Alegata marriage records

Alegata marriage records — also known as “marriage supplements,” aneksy (annexes), or dowody (evidence) — are additional materials presented at the time of marriage, in order to document the death of a previous spouse (if relevant), divorce from a previous spouse (if relevant), and/or one’s own birth. Marriage banns (announcements) were also often included. If a person’s birth was not recorded, or if the birth record was lost due to flood or fire, then testimony was provided to establish the place and date of birth.

Alegat is a Polish word of Latin origin, from allegatio, ‘sending someone as an intermediary; a citation of proof; a submitted document.’...” (source: https://pgsa.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/WhatAre-Alegata.pdf)
