1000719-20[approximate translation:] To the Mayor in Żarki / from Icek Sztybel in Żarki / Appeal / In connection with the fine of 200 zł imposed on me for allegedly throwing various garbage onto the street, I take the liberty of addressing the Mayor with the following explanation. The garbage was not thrown onto the street but into the basement, which does not belong to me nor to any tenant of Wajnryb, who housed me there by force. The tenant runs a restaurant from which the garbage originates, and guests do not follow sanitary regulations, but rather throw their leftovers and garbage where it is most convenient. / During the winter, all restaurant matters take place indoors, guests arrive and stay here until late at night, even until 4 in the morning. In support of my statement, I can provide witnesses: the tenants of Mr. Lejzer Lejzerowicz, Icek Pejsak, as well as tenants from the neighboring house of Mr. Icek Najman, who all live in the neighboring house. / I would also like to emphasize that the square in front of my house has always been exemplary in terms of cleanliness for the whole town, as I have been sweeping and removing trash myself for years to maintain order, which can be confirmed by citizens of the town as well as by the police. / Taking all this into consideration, I turn to the Honorable Local Government with the following request to kindly cancel the unjust fine imposed on me, and at the same time I ask that the tenants of Wajnryb be instructed, free of charge, to pay attention to the cleanliness of the yard and garbage, and to place the trash in the bin that is located in the yard. / I hope that the Honorable Mayor will grant my humble request. / With respect, / Icek Sztybel / Żarki, 21 Feb 1940 // [response:] Did not grant the request. / Head of Municipal Administration / Żarki, 22 Feb 1940Icek Sztybel, Wajnryb, Lejzor Lejzerowicz, Icek Pejsak, Icek NajmanSZTYBEL, WAJNRYB, LEJZEROWICZ, PEJSAK, NAJMAN
